Wemade invested in Epic League, a blockchain gaming platform.
Epic League, a online RPG-specialized platform, will connect participants in the ecosystem, including game players, communities, and guilds, to blockchain services such as NFT marketplace and DeFi.
Epic League is a team of veteran game developers who were behind global hits Lineage2M, Marvel Future Revolution, and BTS Universe Story in Korean game powerhouses such as Netmarble and NCSoft, and blockchain experts.
Jihyoung Lee, a cover artist for Marvel and DC Comics joined as the art director, and Younghoon Back, the former COO of Netmarble, and Thomas Vu, the former head of creative at Riot Games and advisor for Sandbox, are advisors.
The platform plans to service RPGs Dark Throne and Twilight Fantasy, and many games will follow. Dark Throne will be officially serviced after the alpha test in the first half of 2022, and Twilight Fantasy is slated to be launched in the second half of this year.
Along with Wemade, many influential investors, including YGGSEA(the first sub-DAO of YGG), Global Blockchain Innovative Capital, and Infinity Ventures Crypto, joined the seed round.
“All blockchains in the world will be connected through interoperability,” said Henry Chang, CEO of Wemade. “Joining forces with a blockchain platform with great potential started by great people will bring a synergy effect on many areas.”
